Element Care Appoints Mary Kummer Naber and Alan Abrams, MD, MPH to Board of Directors, Strengthening Leadership Team
Lynn, MA – March 31, 2026 – Element Care, a leading Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) and managed care provider for Senior Care Options (SCO), is pleased to announce the appointments of Mary Naber, MBA and Alan Abrams, MD, MPH to its Board of Directors. These appointments expand Element Care’s strategic leadership as the organization continues to build momentum and strengthen its governance with experienced healthcare leaders dedicated to advancing care for older adults.
Mary Naber recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of PACE Southeast Michigan, one of the nation’s leading Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. During her nearly 12-year tenure, the organization has grown from serving 250 seniors to nearly 2,500, becoming the largest and fastest-growing PACE program in Michigan and one of the top-performing programs nationally. Under her leadership, PACE Southeast Michigan has expanded access to care across the region by opening 9 new health centers and scaling services that help older adults with complex health conditions remain independent in their homes and communities.
Naber brings more than four decades of healthcare leadership experience, including executive roles at Ascension Michigan where she served as Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President. She currently serves as Board Chair of the Alliance for PACE Innovation and Quality and has been an active member of the National PACE Association Board of Directors.
“I’m honored to join the Element Care Board of Directors and support an organization deeply committed to helping older adults remain independent and connected to their communities,” said Mary Kummer Naber. “PACE is an incredibly powerful model for delivering person-centered care, and I look forward to working alongside the Board and leadership team to help Element Care continue expanding its impact.”
Alan Abrams, MD, MPH, is a nationally recognized geriatric physician, educator, and healthcare leader with decades of experience advancing clinical care for older adults. He most recently served as Chief Medical Officer at Perfect Health, where he focused on developing best-in-class models of community-based health care in the home for seniors.
“Element Care’s mission to support older adults through coordinated, community-based care aligns closely with the work I’ve dedicated my career to,” said Dr. Abrams. “I’m excited to contribute my experience in geriatric medicine and home-based care as the organization continues to grow and innovate for its participants.”
Dr. Abrams has held academic appointments through Harvard Medical School for more than four decades and previously served as Program Director of the Harvard Medical School Geriatric Fellowship Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He was also named Educator of the Year by the American Academy of Home Care Medicine and served on its Board for a decade. Throughout his career, he has helped train generations of geriatric physicians while leading clinical programs focused on home-based care and innovative models that improve care for older adults.
The appointments follow the recent addition of Greg Wilmot to the Board of Directors, further reinforcing Element Care’s commitment to bringing diverse expertise in healthcare delivery for older adults to guide the organization’s growth and mission-driven impact.
“Element Care is in an exciting period of growth and opportunity as we expand our ability to serve more older adults across Massachusetts,” said Doug Thompson, Chief Executive Officer at Element Care. “Mary and Alan bring deep expertise in PACE leadership and geriatric medicine that will help guide our strategy and strengthen our mission. Their perspectives will be invaluable as we continue expanding access to coordinated, high-quality care for the communities we serve.”
For more than 30 years, Element Care has provided the highest quality comprehensive healthcare to thousands of at-risk seniors. Currently, Element Care serves over 1,200 PACE participants and almost 1,800 SCO members across communities in Essex County, Merrimack Valley, and parts of Greater Boston.
